BAKERSFIELD, Calif., Friday, May 26th, firefighters from the Kern County Fire Department are continuing ongoing training for Urban Search and Rescue personnel. This swift water training, often conducted in the Kern River near Kernville, will be conducted in the Kern River along Yokuts Park in Bakersfield from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon. Members of the community should not be alarmed if they witness these rescues taking place, which are simulated.
In addition, the Kern County Fire Department Air Operations Division may participate in the scheduled training if available. If this occurs the community can expect to see a KCFD Helicopter flying at a low altitude in the area of Yokuts Park conducting dynamic hoist rescues of firefighters floating down the river.
