2022 Independence Day Weekend Initial Review

For 2022, a new online reporting tool was utilized to help reduce the number of non-emergency calls to 911. The Kern County Fire Department would like to thank our community for following the direction to use the online “Illegal Fireworks Reporter”. In addition to reducing non-emergency calls to 911, this new reporting tool provided real-time data to better direct resources.

In total, we received 6,400 reports to the Fireworks Taskforce, through the “Illegal Fireworks Reporter”, between June 28th – July 4th.

On July 4th alone, we received 4,000 reports to the Fireworks Taskforce, through the “Illegal Fireworks Reporter”.

On July 4th, the Emergency Communication Center processed 1,879 calls and dispatched 214 separate incidents for the Kern County Fire Department, including 77 Fires.

18 Structure Fires
45 Outside Fires
6 Vegetation Fires
3 Vehicle Fires
