The Kern County Fire Department would like to notify all residents that Open Burning of Hazard Reduction fuels is now closed, effective Monday, April 11, 2022. This decision has been made due to multiple factors including live fuel moisture levels.
As the weather in Kern County heats up and relative humidity drops, vegetation continues to dry out and become more susceptible to burning. The Kern County Fire Department would like to remind residents to develop and maintain the required defensible space around their home.
