Today, 30 recruits began a 16 week academy to prepare them to serve our local communities. This group of recruits will be instructed in all disciplines related to today’s modern day fire service. Some of the topics covered will include: firefighting strategies and tactics, rope rescue, vehicle extrication, HazMat operations, and EMS. The training received will be from a group of highly skilled and competent mentors from within the Kern County Fire Department.
The next weeks will be demanding both mentally and physically, a necessity to ensure that the firefighters responding during an emergency are equal to the task. We wish all success.
