Caliente, CA

At approximately 5:30 a.m. today, the Kern County Fire Department received calls for a structure fire in the 15000 block of Caliente Creek Road. The first arriving units encountered a 30' x 30' shop, a motor home and several vehicles fully involved on fire. The fire had spread to the trees and grass. Due to the large amount of fire and limited water sources crews fought the fire defensively. Crews aggressively attacked the fire and used several tanker shuttles to keep it from spreading further into the grass. The fire was brought under control in about an hour and a half. Crews remained on scene for about 4 hours for mop up. There were no injuries to civilians or fire personnel. The cause is under investigation.

The Kern County Fire Department would like to remind you to check your smoke detectors regularly and replace the batteries every six months.
