Ridgecrest, CA

This evening at approximately 7:38 p.m. the Kern County Fire Department received multiple calls for a commercial office building on fire. The first arriving engine company was faced with a 15,000 square foot two story commercial building complex with 20 different offices and smoke coming from inside one of the offices. Firefighters made entry into the building and were able to quickly locate the fire using a thermal imaging camera (TIC) and began to extinguish the fire, as well as perform a primary search to assure no people were in the office. Additional firefighters were used to perform a search of the building to assure that the fire had not spread to other offices and that there were no victims as a result of the fire. This is a vacant building that had homeless people squatting in it. The cause of the fire is under investigation. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters as a result of this fire.
