Arvin, CA
At 6:50 p.m., the Kern County Fire Department received a call for a vegetation fire in the area of Comanche Point & Tejon Hwy. When crews arrived on scene, they were faced with a fast moving wind driven fire going through the hills. Ground crews were supported by 2 helicopters, KCFD Helicopter 408 and SQF 522, 2 KCFD dozers, and 2 Air tankers assisted out of Porterville Air Tank Base. Aircraft were instrumental in working with ground crews to anchor the fire flanking it and pinching it off. Crews were able to keep the fire to 95 acres and will remain on scene for several hours reinforcing the fire line and patrolling through out the night.
