Weldon,  CA

At 12:40 PM on Monday, Kern County Firefighters were dispatched to reports of a grass fire near Fay Creek.  The first arriving captain reported 3 to 4 acres of grass had already burned, and the fire was threatening structures.  Additional fire engines and other types of resources were requested, including:  KCFD Helicopter 407, a water tender, Rio Bravo Hotshots, and 2 air tankers.  USFS Sequoia Engine 46 and Division 4 assisted.

Firefighters were able to stop the fire before it damaged any structures.  The progression of the fire was stopped at 1:49 PM.  The fire is contained and resources are remaining on scene to reinforce control lines.

The Kern County Fire Department would like to remind residents living in high fire hazard areas to make sure they maintain the defensible space around their homes.
