At 1:02 this morning, Kern County Fire Department was dispatched to a reinforced structure fire in the 200 block of Beardsley Avenue with a reported trapped occupant. First arriving units found a motor home and adjacent shed fully involved in fire. Crews made an aggressive attack on the fire and had them under control in 10 minutes. Due to arcing power lines overhead, crews were unable to search the area until PG&E de-energized the lines. Crews where then able to search and found a deceased person inside the shed. Kern County Arson Investigators, KCSO, and Corner were requested and arrived to document and process the scene, interview witnesses and removed the deceased. The cause of the fire is under investigation and the deceased has not been identified, pending notification of next of kin.
Assisting Agencies: KCSO, Arvin Coroner, PG&E, and Hall Ambulance.
