At 2:11 AM, a reinforced structure fire alarm was dispatched to the 1700-block of Lincoln Street for multiple reports of an abandoned house on fire. First arriving firefighters were faced with a fully-involved structure with several nearby homes threatened. Neighbors to the east of the fire were already safely out of their house and evacuations of a two-story apartment building to the west were started as a precaution. Firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading and neighbors were able to return home.
The fire completely destroyed the abandoned house, an estimated $10,000 loss. Arson investigators were called to the scene due to suspicious circumstances. This is the third time a fire has occurred at this structure.
