At 08:38 PM, the Kern County Fire Department was dispatched to the 21000 block of Madre Street for a structure fire in a 5-plex apartment complex. The first arriving engine was faced with fire coming from a single unit, with 2 rooms involved and the fire spreading to the attic. There were two other adjacent apartment complexes threatened by the fire.
Fire crews quickly started fire fighting operations and initiated a search inside the home. An all clear on the primary search was confirmed. Fire crews extinguished the fire in the involved unit in approximately 15 minutes and prevented the fire from spreading to the other threatened apartment complexes. The involved unit was vacant and no one was displaced.
Assisting Agencies: Kern County Sheriff, Stallion Springs PD, Southern Cal. Edison, Gas Company, and Kern County Building Department.
Additional Information: Kern County Fire Department Station 13 in Golden Hills played an integral role in the successful confinement and extinguishment of this fire due to its proximity to the incident.
