Just before 10:00 PM tonight, the Kern County Fire Department received a call for a person trapped in a Ford F-150 pickup truck surrounded by fast moving flood waters. First arriving units were faced with a single patient in the back of a pick up truck surrounded by 2-3 feet of rapidly moving water. Kern County Firefighters were able to secure a ladder from an embankment to the bed of the pickup and rescue the stranded motorist. Additional KCFD personnel were sent down stream with rope bags as a precaution. The remaining personnel were able to safely remove the patient to dry land. There were no injuries.
Assisting Agencies: KCSO, Hall Ambulance
Additional Information: KCFD advises to never cross flowing water. Currents can be moving much faster than they appear.
It is always best to "Turn Around And Not Drown."
