BAKERSFIELD, CA - Tuesday, March 09, 2010 at approximately 2:01A.M. a call was received by Kern County Fire Department for a possible structure fire in the 1700 block of Flower Street. 10 Kern County Fire Fighters responded to the incident with assistance from Kern County Sheriff.

Upon arrival, crews found a tree fire burning into an apartment complex, prompting residents to evacuate their homes. Crews extinguished the fire to the tree, due to the damage done to the buildings exterior, fire crews check for any extension to the attic, which subsequently was filled with smoke. No fire extension was found to the interior.  Arson units responded to the incident and have taken a 33 year old male into custody, under suspicion of arson. Damage is estimated at $1000.00. No injuries have been reported.
